Let’s bake – Kūčiukai

Time is flying so fast (especially,when it’s holidays! :)) Seems that Christmas Eve was only yesterday, but today it’s already New years eve! I have one Lithuanian recipe that I want to share – it’s Kūčiukai, a “bread” that is traditionally baked on Christmas Eve (but we usually eat it until new year). I’m a bit late with the recipe, but better later, than never, right? 🙂 maybe you’ll decide to cook it for New years eve or maybe for Christmas eve next year? It’s easy to make and it’s a very delicious snack.


Kūčiukai are usually served with poppy seed “milk”, that’s made from ground poppy seeds, water and a little bit of sugar. We also have a very nice tradition – before starting Christmas eve dinner, everyone has to take a handful of kūčiukai and count them. If the number is even, it means you’ll be lucky in love this year!
